Two new deaths in Ontario occurred at seniors’ homes due to COVID-19.

✎ Regarding someone with a mask on as a coronavirus carrier is like regarding someone with a condom on as an HIV carrier. So-called expert advice on not wearing masks stems from fear that people begin to hoard masks and leave hospital staff none. Also they presume common folks to be incapable of using masks correctly (by touching the mask and then the face without washing hands, for example). If a quality mask can’t help stop a virus, neither can a condom. They’re both effective viral filters to help you stay healthy.

Sophie Trudeau Diagnosed with COVID-19

"Sophie Trudeau Diagnosed with COVID-19"

First of all this is sad news. My best wishes go to the Trudeaus.

To those who dwell on “authoritativeness,” when authorities and medical workers can’t even protect themselves and loved ones properly against a public health crisis, how could you be unjustifiably credulous about the judgement made by “authorities”?

Not long ago, Justin Trudeau went to a Chinese restaurant and socialized with a group of people without any protective gear. This is a bad demonstration from an authority. (I don’t have problems with Chinese restaurants or Chinese food. Simply the opposite of social distancing in today’s context is really not what we would expect of an authority.)

For a medical specialist returning from a trip to the US, going to work immediately without awareness of the situation is also a bad demonstration.

A lack of awareness stems from a paucity of REAL information. ⇢ Read more

I know many of you are thumbing your noses at recent news and believe COVID-19 is hyped and overblown. I came back from somewhere near the epicenter of the outbreak (Beijing, China) five weeks ago, and I’ve been isolating myself at home1 ever since (strictly for the first three weeks, most of the time these two weeks). Luckily I’m very well at present, but the fear is lingering. I should say this disease is not like a common flu, and I suggest all of us avoid crowds and cancel gatherings of all kinds. Hamilton has seen the first positive case, which may well be just the tip of the iceberg.

Several facts about the novel coronavirus: ⇢ Read more

How should we get prepared for the novel coronavirus outbreak? Neither panicking nor being carefree is right. Watch out for potential outbreak in your local communities, protect yourselves, and don’t start stockpiling like a beast. Some have underestimated the ramifications by comparing it to a common flu. Remember: however old you are, any damage to the lungs is irrevocable despite disappearance of symptoms. Run away from COVID-2019 as hard as you can. (A “fun” fact: It’s been recorded that one can be infected within 15 seconds by a carrier when both of them wear no face masks.)

Also, don’t believe that young folks won’t be affected. It’s true that mortality rates for younger groups are lower, but mortality rates mean nothing when you belong to that very fraction. I’ve known a dozen men and women aged 21 – 39 that have succumbed to the virus. How come you are so assured you won’t be like them?

Grow wise to the situation, YOUNG dudes. Your government normally won’t take it seriously until YOU take it seriously.

✎ Stop being unjustifiably optimistic. We human beings need to know COVID-19 better.
